The IAAF World Junior Championships School Program
All schools have the opportunity to take part in school based activities surrounding the Moncton 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships. These activities are designed to stimulate creativity, while at the same time providing students the opportunity to grasp the magnitude of the event. The following activities have been developed to be easily incorporated into the existing curriculum:
Students are invited to create a 30 to 90 second digital video or animation showcasing one of the following two themes:
- Innovative ways to improve the environment
- The pride of our region.
Championship Art
Individuals or groups of students will create a piece of art to be displayed on the U de M campus. The art can be in the form of sculpture, still life, abstract, representational, etc. Each piece should capture an element of the IAAF World Junior Championships (e.g., culture, athleticism, competition, etc.)
International Coffee House Night
International Coffee House Night is an opportunity for students to showcase their talent while engaging in a new culture. This is a chance for students to research and learn cultural songs, dances, etc. or share their existing knowledge of another country.
Discussion Series
The discussion series aims to provide teachers with the opportunity to incorporate challenges related to the IAAF World Junior Championships into their classes. A variety of discussion topics have been provided which can be easily integrated into the existing curriculum. Classes can feel free to come up with other topics of discussion which relate to hosting an international athletics event.
