 Event Volunteer Job Descriptions

General Attendant
Provide information on site-specific activities; distribute various items including food; maintain supplies; perform general duties as assigned. 
- Problem solving skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills. 

Greeters
Welcome and direct individuals; answer questions; general duties as assigned. 
- Spoken French and English necessary.
- Bright and outgoing personality.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.

Administrative Support
Provide administrative support in a variety of areas. 
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Problem solving skills.
- Basic computer skills. 

Baggage Handlers
Gather and transport baggage to and from dignitaries' and teams’ transportation. 
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Good interpersonal skills.

Site Security
Work in conjunction with Access Control to provide on-site security; Respond to situations that may arise; Provide crowd control. 
- Security background an asset; CPR/First Aid certification an asset.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to move rapidly in response to situations.
- Tolerance to all weather conditions.

Drivers
Responsible for the transportation of accredited individuals within the Greater Moncton Area. Must supply a driver’s abstract and be available for an interview.  
- Must be at least 25 years old.
- Strong customer service skills
- Knowledge of the Greater Moncton Area.

Transportation Dispatcher
Coordinate distribution of all vehicles within the transportation fleet. 
- Decision making and problem solving ability.
- Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Technology Support Centre
Log, resolve, and redirect technology issues. 
- Technology support knowledge for computers, software, Internet, and hardware accessories.

Technicians
Coordinate and manage technology operations and provide technology support. 
- Extensive experience in technology support for electronic equipment including computers, software, Internet, and hardware accessories.

Ushers
Direct accredited individuals and spectators to reserved seats and answer questions related to seating and competition. Ensure seating etiquette is respected. 
- Spoken French and English necessary.
- Good communication skills.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.

Ceremony Performers
Performers for the opening and closing ceremonies. Requires auditions and rehearsals. 
- Experience in dance and general choreography an asset.

Costume Production
Assist the Costume Designer. 
- Experience in clothing alterations necessary
- Commitment required starting in April.

Set & Prop Production
Assist with production of sets and props for opening and closing ceremonies. 
- Experience in painting and/or carpentry an asset.
- Commitment required starting in April.

Hosts & Hostesses
Provide welcoming atmosphere and support at VIP receptions; greet guests, serve food and beverages; ensure area remains tidy. Must be available for an interview. 
- Spoken French and English necessary.
- Attention to detail
- Diplomatic
- High standards of service.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Previous experience an asset.

General Labourers
Assist with movement of furniture to and from the warehouse and venues; arrange rooms; set-up and tear-down of all signage and pageantry; drive equipment vehicles. 
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- No fear of heights.
- Opportunities available as early as March. 

Carpenters
Fabrication of furniture and equipment. 
- Must possess certificate or diploma in Carpentry or have equivalent experience and training.
- Opportunities available as early as March.

Clean-up Crew
Keep assigned venues clean; pick up waste and recycling; general clean-up.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Attention to detail.
- Able to work with little supervision.

Interpreters
Provide language interpretation at varying levels for accredited individuals requiring immediate interpretive services. 
- Bilingual in English OR French AND any of the following languages: Arabic, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Japanese, etc.

Competition Crew
Assist with various aspects of the competition. Jobs include: doping control marshals (must be bilingual), hurdle crews (age 16-18), basket and starting block crews (14-16), other duties as assigned.
- Able to move quickly and efficiently.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Volunteers must be available for the duration of the Canadian Track and Field World Junior Trials and the IAAF World Junior Championships.

Team Attaché
Assigned to a team from arrival to departure to assist with interpretation and other administrative tasks. Team Attachés work long shifts and will have full access to team busses and cafeteria services. 
- Fluent in the language of the team
- Able to work long hours.
- Good interpersonal skills.

Merchandise Distribution
Assist with distribution of event programs, schedules, merchandise and promotional materials. 
- Spoken French and English necessary.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Bright, outgoing personality.
