Green Tips
The Local Organizing Committee for the Moncton 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of the event. Whether you are an athlete, spectator or volunteer, please help us protect our local environment by following these simple green tips during the Championships:
Tip #1: Recycle bottles and cans!
Please use recycling containers at venues for bottles and cans. Returning them reduces waste and greenhouse gas emissions.
Tip #2: Don’t need your program anymore?
Please recycle it, return it, or pass it on to avoid wasting paper.
Tip #3: Please use blue and green waste containers!
Please don’t litter. Blue bins are used for dry waste that can be recycled and green bins are for wet waste that can be composted. Both blue and green waste bins are located at all venues.
Tip #4: Walk or bike!
Walking or cycling to events is good for your health and does not pollute the air. Bicycle racks are available at the stadium free of charge.
Tip #5: Carpool or take public transportation to events!
Save money – don’t drive by yourself. Codiac Transit provides bus service to venues in the Greater Moncton area and can be accessed at http://www.codiactranspo.ca
Tip #6: No idling please!
If you do decide to drive to events, please do not leave your engine idling. Keeping your car running increases greenhouse gas emissions, pollutes the air, and costs money.
Tip #7: Please consider offsetting your carbon emissions!
Whether by airplane, train, bus or car, travelling to Moncton creates unavoidable pollution from the burning of fossil fuels.
