Meet Sporti – The Moncton 2010 Mascot

No one is more excited for the IAAF World Junior Championships than Sporti, Moncton 2010’s mascot. He is already counting down the days! Sporti has a passion for athletics, and can often be seen at local playgrounds promoting an active and healthy lifestyle with all his friends.

 

Sporti loves making new friends and shares the big smile, and warm spirit, that Atlantic Canadians are known for. His arms are always open representing the amazing welcome you’ll receive while visiting the region.

 

Sporti’s a colourful character and he proudly shows off the standards of Canada, New Brunswick, the City of Moncton, l’Acadie, l’Université de Moncton (the competition site and one of the athletes villages) and Mount Allison University (the other athletes village).

 

The bright stars you can see shining on his hands have a double meaning. They hint both at the star on the Acadian flag and the rising stars of athletics.

 

Sporti wishes all the athletes good luck at the Championships, and can’t wait to start meeting all his new friends before and during the event!
