Moncton 2010 Stadium

Moncton 2010 Stadium

Construction on the new world-class Stade Moncton 2010 Stadium on the Université de Moncton campus began in the spring of 2008.

This $20 million-plus project is being built to the IAAF’s rigorous standards. It will feature seating for 10,000 with the capability to be expanded to 20,000 seats for future events. The stadium will be the biggest of its kind in Atlantic Canada and was designed to accommodate a wide variety of events beyond just track and field.

When complete, the facility will be co-managed by the University and the City of Moncton. It will be the ideal location to host sporting and recreational events. The natural grass surface in the centre of the track can be used for soccer and Canadian football games. The stadium will also be equipped to operate as a possible concert site.

The 400 meter, eight lane track has a Mondo FTX surface, the same artificial surface used at the Beijing Olympics. This track was installed at the stadium and warm-up area in summer, 2009.

A giant video screen, electronic scoreboard and public address sound system will be in place for the Championships.
