(Moncton) – The head coach for Team Germany was recently in Moncton to plan logistics in advance of next summers IAAF World Junior Championships in Track and Field being held in Moncton from July 19th to 25th, 2010.

Dietmar Chounard, the head coach for Germany’s Junior and Senior Athletics Teams, was in Moncton to tour the facilities being used for Moncton 2010 next summer including the Stade Moncton 2010 Stadium being finalized at University of Moncton, as well as the residences at U de M and Mount Allison University.

(Cocagne Riverview/) - From July 19 to 25, 2010, Moncton will host the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) – World Junior Championships.

The Mascot for that upcoming world-class event was unveiled today at Frank L. Bowser school in Riverview and École Blanche-Bourgeois in Cocagne. The “IAAF World Junior Championships Name the Moncton 2010 Mascot Contest” was also launched.

“We consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have an individual of this calibre to agree to be COO of what will be one of the finest world class events to ever happen in our region, said Mr. Nelson. “Nancy has an extensive background in numerous sporting and non-sporting events in this province and indeed the country.”

MONCTON – The executives for the Local Organizing Committee of the 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships were announced today at a press conference held at Moncton City Hall.

The 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships is the largest international sporting event ever hosted in Atlantic Canada.

Moncton – The City of Moncton and the Université de Moncton have reached a partnership agreement on the construction of a 10,000-seat stadium for the IAAF World Junior Championships to be held in Moncton in 2010.

“We are pleased to join with the City of Moncton in order to make this unifying project a reality,” said Yvon Fontaine, President of the Université de Moncton. “This will foster closer ties between the university and the community at large.”

March 29th, 2006, Ottawa – Athletics Canada is thrilled to announce that the city of Moncton, New Brunswick has been awarded the 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships. The decision was made by International Association of Athletics Federation Directors in Osaka, Japan. While Canada’s bid committee delegation went to Japan intent on winning the 2008 World Junior Championships, the unanimous approval of the IAAF Council in awarding the 2010 games to Moncton and Canada is still great news.
