Opening and Closing Ceremonies
Opening and closing ceremonies will be unique events that will showcase the true spirit and the personality of our community, while promoting the City of Moncton, the Province of New Brunswick and Canada.
Opening ceremonies will be held on July 19th, 2010 and will be held independently of competitions. Closing ceremonies will be held on July 25th, 2010 and will follow the last round of competition.
Opening and closing ceremonies will provide a lasting impression for spectators, volunteers, athletes and television viewers. The opening ceremonies will be a spectacular welcome to the Championships while closing ceremonies are designed to celebrate and commemorate the event that will be drawing to a close in Moncton, New Brunswick. Both ceremonies will be held before crowds estimated at 10,000 people and will be broadcast live across Canada.
The success of the ceremonies is closely linked to public participation. The organizing committee is presently working to involve hundreds of students from different schools in the area and young adults from the community. Volunteers will be chosen beginning in the fall of 2009 and, by January 2010, orientation sessions will begin.
