Vision and Mission

Vision:

To showcase Canada, the Province of New Brunswick and the City of Moncton to the world, while hosting the best-ever IAAF World Junior Championships.

Mission Statement:

The Local Organizing Committee for the IAAF World Junior Championships will deliver a first-rate sporting event, which will celebrate the achievements of junior-age athletes in athletics. The IAAF, Athletics Canada, Athletics New Brunswick, government partners, corporate partners, and the general public will be provided with safe, enjoyable facilities and services. The unique character, culture and pride of the Greater Moncton community will be showcased to the world. The event will be run in a financially and environmentally responsible manner, maximizing the economic benefits to the City of Moncton, the Province of New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada.

Objectives:

  • To promote the sport of athletics and, in a broader sense, the practice of amateur sport in Moncton, New Brunswick, Atlantic Canada and the country as a whole.
  • To showcase the City of Moncton, the Province of New Brunswick, Atlantic Canada, and Canada to the world.
  • To provide the requirements to meet IAAF standards in the operation of the event and to deliver the best-ever Junior Championships.
  • To operate within the obtainable financial resources and leave a legacy fund to benefit the future development of athletics in Atlantic Canada.
  • To rally corporate, business, social, educational and trade union circles as well as the ethno-cultural communities around a project that concerns the community as a whole.
  • To maximize the economic impact of the championships through visits by spectators, the media and other visitors.
  • To maximize the legacy in terms of equipment and facilities that are reusable after the championships and in terms of the sport development opportunities that are available before and after the Championships.
  • To maximize the legacy in terms of openness to the world among the youth of Moncton and the area.
  • To maximize the legacy through generations with positive publicity and images to audiences across Canada and around the world and through the development of skills and pride in the community.
  • To maximize the legacy of citizen participation through volunteer opportunities with the Championships that will carry on Moncton’s enthusiasm for hosting world events by imparting the acquired skills to both attract and host major events.
